The School Council is made up of representatives from Primary 1 Primary 2 Secondary 3 and Secondary 4. Classes vote every October on who their rep for the year will be. We have ballot papers and vote for a representative who has the following qualities;
The pupil with the most votes becomes a Rep for a year, there is a board displaying their names and they have a badge which is presented to them in assembly. Reps choose which colour badge they would like.
The School Council aim to help with school events such as Red Nose day e.g. collecting money and selling red noses or serving cakes at coffee mornings. They help with decision making; for example this term they judged the best ‘Talking Books’ made by each Department. They also help in Assembly every week with the poem ‘This is the heart that beats in me…’.
We have a ‘Suggestions box’ and pupils and staff can put ideas, problems and suggestions in the box for the School Council to talk about and think about.
