Safeguarding children

Waverley School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers and stakeholders to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies an procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment (see policies).

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child or young person. We will ensure our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We work closely with the Joint Service for Disabled Children ( JDSC commonly known as cheviots)

We actively support the Government's prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Deniz Oguz (Deputy Head teacher). Deniz Oguz is also the DSL for Looked After Children (LAC).
We have a deputy DSL in each department.
The governors for safeguarding are Michael Artemis and Lucille Balcombe (chair).

Enfield Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) can be contact via the children's portal https://cp.childrensportal.enfield.gov.uk/web/portal/pages/cp_mash

Any photographs or videos taken by parents, carers and relatives at school productions, sports days or other events are for the enjoyment of individual families. They must not be used in anyway that could potentially place a child or young person at risk. This would include publishing images in any form of print or on the internet including social networking sites. This is emphasised before concerts and shows.

We are aware that our pupils are potentially vulnerable due to a number of factors including their communication difficulties. We prioritise the teaching of communication skills for this reason.
