School Council
The School Council is made up of representatives from Primary 1, Primary 2, Secondary 3 and Secondary 4. Classes vote every October for who their rep for the year will be. We have ballot papers and vote for a representative who has the following qualities;
- Someone who is good at listening.
- Choose someone who is good at signing or talking or using their communication book/device.
- Someone who has good ideas.
- Someone who is a good friend.
The pupil with the most votes becomes a rep for a year, there is a board displaying their names and they have a badge which is presented to them in assembly. Reps choose which colour badge they would like.
The School Council aim to help with school events such as Red Nose day e.g. collecting money and selling red noses or serving cakes at coffee mornings. They help with decision making; for example this term they judged the best ‘Talking Books’ made by each Department. They also help in Primary Assembly every week with the poem ‘This is the heart that beats in me' and Secondary Assembly 'This is me'.
We have a ‘Suggestions box’ and pupils and staff can put ideas, problems and suggestions in the box for the School Council to talk about and think about.
